DiMarzio FRED Humbucker Guitar Pickup
Designed to expand the midrange EQ of the classic PAF Pro, the DiMarzio FRED humbucker introduces unique harmonic overtones that become especially pronounced with overdriven amplifiers and distortion pedals. Offering medium output with enhanced growl and bite, it delivers a tight, bright response that avoids the muddy buildup typical of heavily saturated tones.
Renowned as Joe Satriani's longtime signature bridge pickup, FRED reacts with exceptional sensitivity to dynamic picking nuances and guitar control adjustments. Its defined voice produces piercing lead solos and articulate rhythm tracks that cut through any mix in live and studio environments.
While engineered to excel in the bridge position of solidbody, hollowbody, and semi-hollowbody guitars, it also functions as a distinctive neck pickup paired with higher-output units. It features versatile 4-conductor wiring, an Alnico 5 magnet, and standard passive installation.
