DiMarzio PAF 59 Neck Pickup
Designed using Larry DiMarzio's original 1959 Cherry Sunburst Les Paul as a benchmark, the PAF 59 Neck humbucker recreates the classic sound and dynamics of vintage Patent Applied For pickups. It utilizes authentic period-correct materials, scatter-wound un-dipped coils with 42 AWG enamel wire, and a degaussed 2.5-inch Alnico 5 magnet on a traditional long-leg nickel-silver base plate.
This pickup is voiced to capture an instrument's natural resonance without unwanted coloration, offering open dynamics, articulate attack, smooth midrange response, and a defined low end. Highly responsive to playing touch, it delivers harmonic richness and dynamic headroom suited for classic rock, blues, and vintage tonal palettes.
Constructed with Double Cream butyrate bobbins and a single-conductor vintage braided lead wire, each component is manufactured in the USA to the highest vintage tolerances. While optimized for the neck position, it can also be paired with the PAF 59 Bridge model for a cohesive, classic dual-humbucker setup.
